General Information
Grimm are the dominant species of Remnant. Formerly thought to only come in the forms of animals, we now know that Grimm come in many more forms than that. They're known for their distinctive black color and their combination white/red masks. More often than not their masks are their faces.
The Creatures of Grimm are collectively referred to as Grimm, and solely attack humans and human creations. Grimm are drawn to negative emotion, so while a village or town may survive an assault by Grimm, panic and paranoia would draw in more Grimm for a second assault, and the process would continue to repeat until said people are wiped out.
While Grimm are known to feed on humans, they aren't shown to actually require nourishment to survive or grow. Grimm were thought to be mindless, but have since been confirmed to have semi-complex thought processes. While young Grimm are reckless enough to blindly attack humans, they learn from battles and the ones who survive enough battles learn to avoid humans in order to survive and grow.
After being slain, a Grimm's body will begin to deteriorate at an alarming rate, making research troublesome. Hunters will often use the little time with the corpse to create molds of a Grimm's body parts (IE: Masks, Claws, Fangs) as trophies after slaying a Grimm.
Grimm are soulless beings, and are therefore the only playable species incapable of possessing aura or using semblance.
NPC Grimm
Small NPC Grimm, like the Ursa and Beowolves seen thus far, can be rped by members in a fight, however larger NPC Grimm, like the Nevermore and the Volume One Death Stalker, must be requested by a member, and if granted then a moderator or admin will rp them for you.
Player Grimm
Player Grimm are ranked by size and strength. A player Grimm can be any species of Grimm, cannon or created (within reason). All Player Grimm will start at Rank 1 and progress from there. Ranks are limited as followed.
Rank 1 - A common Grimm. You probably don't pack any more of a punch than a common animal and aren't very experienced. Probably about the size of the normal creature you're based off or smaller depending on your species.
Rank 2 - Through experience you've grown and wizened. You're now noticeably larger than before. You may have larger fangs or claws and you can definitely hit harder and run faster.
Rank 3 - You've nearly doubled in size. Your features may be more monstrous than before, including horns, spikes, or even tusks that seem out of place. You move pretty fast and have developed a special attack. (Like the large Nevermore that shot it's feathers.) You may have begun to avoid humans, or seek them out more actively.
Player Grimm will cap at Rank 3 for character balancing reasons. A Rank 3 Grimm can more than keep up with a single Hunter.
